watershed management and rehabilitation
From March 22-24, 2025, the Ethiopian Catholic Church Diocese of
Adigrat held a training program on watershed management and rehabilitation at
St. Mary’s College, focusing on the “Livelihood Restoration and Recovery for
War and Drought Affected Communities” in four wored as of the Eastern Zone. The
training, led by college agriculture instructors and a senior natural resource
management expert, included both theoretical and practical components covering
project objectives, watershed management, soil and water conservation, and
organic soil improvement techniques. A total of 50 participants (39 males and
11 females), including woreda NRM experts, development agents, and local
technicians, attended the program.
Training outcomes included:

Understanding of
project objectives and implementation strategies

Knowledge of
sustainable watershed management and community engagement
·
Familiarity with
biological and physical soil and water conservation methods and organic soil
improvement techniques
Overall, the training was considered fruitful and helpful in
enhancing skills and knowledge related to livelihood restoration and recovery
