Livelihood Restoration and Recovery Project” for war- and drought-affected communities

From June 17–20, 2025, the Ethiopian Catholic Church Diocese of Adigrat, through its Wukro St. Mary’s Institution Social Development Program, conducted a comprehensive training as part of the “Livelihood Restoration and Recovery Project” for war- and drought-affected communities in Kilte-Awlaelo and Tsiraewonberta woredas of Eastern Tigray. Held at St. Mary’s College campus, the training focused on vegetable and fruit tree production and management, blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice.

The sessions were led by instructors from St. Mary’s College and experts from the Kilte-Awlaelo Woreda Agriculture Office. Key topics included project objectives, organic soil enhancement, crop protection, farm business strategies, and record keeping.

A total of 118 participants (73 men and 45 women), along with local development agents and woreda experts, took part. The training was well-received and impactful. The initiative was generously supported by the Ferster Foundation of Switzerland.
