Livelihood Restoration and Recovery for War and Drought Affected Communities

From May 16–21, 2026, the Ethiopian Catholic Church Diocese of Adigrat Wukro St. Mary’s Institution Social Development Program organized training at St. Mary’s College for participants from four woredas.
The training was conducted under the Livelihood Restoration and Recovery Project for war and drought affected communities.
Topics focused on poultry production and modern beekeeping management.
Participants learned poultry housing, feeding, breeding, hatching, marketing, and record keeping.
They also received training on honey bee management, bee protection, wax preparation, and transferring bee colonies to modern hives.
The sessions were led by agriculture instructors and project experts from St. Mary’s College.
A total of 140 participants attended, including 52 men and 88 female-headed households.
The training helped farmers improve their skills, livelihoods, and income opportunities with support from the Ferster Foundation Switzerland.
